But the crew is determined to get that witch, or die trying. Racing along the drought-stricken plains in a stolen red stagecoach, they encounter monsters more wicked than witches lurking along the dusty trail. And as their posse grows, so too does the danger. On the road to Burden County, they’re joined by two vagabond cowboys with a strong sense of adventure – but no sense of purpose – and a recently widowed schoolteacher with nothing left to lose. And every hired gun in Kansas is out to collect the bounty on her head, including bonafide witch hunter Old Tom and his mysterious, mute ward Rabbit. Sadie Grace is wanted for witchcraft, dead (or alive). From bestselling author Alex Grecian comes a folk horror epic about a ragtag posse that must track down a witch through a wild west beset by demons and ghosts―and where death is always just around the bend.

Kyuri is a stunning room salon girl who obtains her beauty through plastic surgery. The storyline spins deftly through four first-person perspectives that slowly fold together. From overarching beauty standards and cutthroat pressure among social classes to broken family relationships, the novel fleshes out the ramifications of these issues through the narration of its main female protagonists. In her debut novel, releasing April 21, former CNN reporter Frances Cha tackles topical social issues that women in South Korea struggle to overcome. The question of whether it may do any good morally is more complicated, and circles around the outrage so many readers report at discovering Atticus Finch, that beloved imaginary Abraham Lincoln of the civil rights movement, spouting racist bile. The answer to whether Watchman is any good aesthetically is simple: not very. There’s a reason Mockingbird is so loved: it is charming, beautifully controlled and heart-warming. I f we accept for argument’s sake that Go Set a Watchman, Harper Lee’s premature sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird, has been intentionally published by its author, we are left with only two significant questions, both about value: is it any good, and does it do any good? Mockingbird indisputably did quite a lot of good, and it’s very good at what it sets out to do. In the course of his unparalleled research and forensic analysis for the book, Lewisohn came to question and, ultimately, revise some aspects of the band’s story which had been routinely accepted as fact down the years. So here are a few nits I couldn’t help picking while reading Tune In. It’s a little like Revolver having ‘Yellow Submarine’ on it – it’s still a majestic album, but not quite a flawless one (in my opinion). But Lewisohn sets such high standards, you can’t help but notice if he falls short once in a while or leaves some questions unanswered. And, as it is, they don’t cast any real blemish over the regular, 840-page version. It may be that some of them are addressed in the extended (double-length) ‘author’s cut’ of the book. But is it perfect? It comes staggeringly close but, no, I do have a handful of gripes with it. It richly deserves all the bouquets and plaudits which have come its way, and I have no doubt it will come to be seen as the ‘Bible’ on the band (not that I am comparing The Beatles to Jesus Christ as a person or God as a thing in any way whatsoever, you understand). Last time out I waxed lyrical about Tune In, the first volume of Mark Lewisohn’s mammoth Beatles biography, which was published in 2013. His first novel, “Master of Ceremonies,” is rooted in what he observed for more than a decade as a church insider - former rector president of a seminary, one-time vicar for clergy and religious, and counselor to priests and seminarians. “It’s such a privilege to have people trust you with struggles in their lives that they haven’t told their friends about,” he said. What we’re doing is standing on shoulders of priests they knew years ago. And we haven’t always earned their trust. We priests have a front-row seat of the hidden workings of grace because people trust us. “I think my truth is priesthood,” he said. In a 2015 interview with Catholic News Service, Cozzens said his writing was intended to help people better understand the challenges facing the church and the priesthood in particular. But it's because of her sweet and fun novels that I even went to that signing. In 2012, months before I started blogging, Elizabeth was one of the first authors I ever met at a signing, and she was so incredibly lovely. And thus started my love affair with Elizabeth Eulberg's books. The premise had me hooked! So naturally, I took myself across the street and bought it at Borders (#neverforget). I saw it across a Barnes & Noble and fell in love. The first reason I ever picked up The Lonely Hearts Club is because of its darling title and cover. In W e Can Work It Out, Elizabeth Eulberg returns to the world of her first novel, The Lonely Hearts Club, and gets to the heart of how hard relationships can be…and why they are sometimes worth all the drama and comedy they create. Now she needs to figure out what to do with it - and how to balance what she wants with what everyone else wants. Penny Lane worked hard to declare her independence. Penny thought she’d be an outcast for life…but then the club became far more popular than she ever imagined it would be.īut what happens when the girl who never thought she’d date a good guy suddenly finds herself dating a great one? She doesn’t need a boyfriend…but she wants it to work out with this particular boyfriend. When Penny Lane started The Lonely Hearts Club, the goal was simple: to show that girls didn’t need to define themselves by how guys look at them, and didn’t have to value boyfriends over everything else.
